Filter by context
Tasks Eye derives context labels from the first-level ancestor in an explicit up note tree and uses the toolbar filter to narrow Focus, board, and Done views.
Why it matters
Section titled “Why it matters”The up tree describes the broad context of a note independently of its vault
folder. Tasks Eye uses each note’s first-level ancestor in the tree as its
context, so a note can move folders without changing the way work is grouped.
The unique root note is the global filter option. Selecting its basename shows every indexed note; selecting a first-level branch narrows the board to that branch and all of its descendants.
Filtering is intentionally non-destructive: it changes the current view, not the notes themselves.
What to expect
Section titled “What to expect”- A first-level note is its own context and deeper descendants inherit that context.
- Notes can live in unrelated folders without changing their context.
- The unique root basename is the global filter option.
- Unknown persisted filters fall back to the root global option.
- Changing the toolbar filter narrows visible rows without mutating notes.
